In response to the what I call "Curvy & Proud" post.
I work in tourism photography and everyday I see girls whom normal society would deem as 'good looking' individuals due to their very commercial looking appearance. They look at their pictures and go, "OMG I LOOK SO FAT DON'T BUY IT SO GROSSSZ"
I look at the picture I look at them, and honestly it's a pretty cute picture to say the least but I put the picture in our Viewed Bin and let it sit there. Now this happens to people who are bigger than "commercial" standards who also hate their picture as well.
My point being is that the American society has been warped into thinking they're not beautiful. I see beautiful people every single day tell me how ugly, how fat, and how disgusting they are when they're not!
There was this older gentleman who had his picture made by himself, and he's probably in his mid-80s on the bigger side he looks at his picture and goes. "Hot damn! I look good! Don't I look good?" He buys his picture and tells me to print off some other copies, because some lady will want to buy his "hunky" picture to take home with them. It made me genuinely smile, we need more people like that in this world. Like her in the post, and like that older gentleman who was "hunky". I'm sick of hearing all this self-hating talk even though I know I can be a victim of it sometimes, but it's okay we're all human and we should all love every single variation of us all. :)
