Hello new, and old followers, this is me. Modeling is an amazing thing. It is a performance, however the pressure is all on you. It is up to you to perform, and perform well, so you are not wasting your audiences time (the photographer, or client). This may seem like a lot, but what I have noticed is once you look at yourself in the mirror before the shoot you know what you need to do. For me, I try to get comfortable with the photographer. It helps that I am as outgoing as possible when meeting them, so I can open up to them. When I say open up, I mean I show pieces of myself through modeling. Such as this photo above. This is one of the sexier shots I have done, I had the outfit, the cigarette holder, the flower, the hair. So, I played the part. I still have trouble being sexy… Don’t ask why, I haven’t a clue. But as I said earlier its all about the show, and how you portray yourself. Crystal Renn really inspires me because she has no boundaries. She has done it all. She is truly an amazing woman, and I hope one day to meet her, or better yet be her friend. I am heading off to Ford modeling agency after New Years when I am back in the states. I guess this post is basically about how nervous I am, and how much this will decide my future. Going to school or modeling. Always the question, I guess Ford will have the answers for me. Am I ready? I am not too sure, but I will be damn well prepared. Thanks for listening, I needed to share some of this.

(click on the pic for her Model Mayhem page) Jealous? Of course not! Why would I want to go to the lovely LA, and why on earth would I want to model for the same company that Crystal Renn started out modeling for? I mean that would just be crazy…haha So, yes. I am jealous. It is just hard, when girls who recently started modeling that are already given recognition. I just wish my career would take off already. Plan of action? I am promising myself, no matter how low my funds are when I get back from Ireland. I am going to NY and Chicago. I am going to successful agencies in these cities. I am going to put myself out there! I have been too afraid, too worried about defeat. If I don’t succeed this time, I will wait ‘til I graduate and move somewhere with a dire need of curvy women! haha Good plan. Are you with me?

Well hello everyone! Several girls have approached me via e-mail and asked if I could give more advice on “how to become a plus size model”. Well, here is how I became a model…

I read so so soooo many articles on-line about how to begin. I had nothing to spend on photoshoots so that was out of the question. Which was when I found out about TFP/CD (Trade For Print/CD) *Angels sing*. This is when you meet with photographers that are working on their porfolio’s as you are and will not charge you. Only because they are learning also! :) It is a great thing, not to mention free- but you have to remember to BRING IT.

I am with two agencies and I have not gotten any work… My agencies are involved in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. So, therefore I could get agencies elsewhere, but it might be difficult with travelling costs.

Anyways, back to trade. If you have a Art Institute around you there are plenty of photography students that need models for projects. They are a great place to go, but they do not tend to give many pictures back.

Where do I find these photographers? You might ask… That is when I found ModelMayhem.com. The best thing since, uh snuggies? lol This site is fabulous, you can find photographers that are professional (if you look hard) and not so professional. I can usually tell by a photographers work if I am interested in working with them or not. Because most of my work is fairly conservative.

Before you meet up with one of these photog’s make sure you contact another model (from their port) to ask their opinion on the person/photographer. Big deal? Yes I think so. When you have your pictures taken it is important to be comfortable, or it will show throughout all of the pics that you were not. My bathingsuit pictures? With a old guy who was pretty creepy. lol  He was a great photographer, but I would have liked to know what to expect. I love seeing pictures of the photographers before I meet them. Because after all they can see pictures of me! I just think its a comfort thing.

Pittsburgh Tribune Review Fashion Column (4 times) *trade work* But it got my name out there. :)

Venus Diva Magazine (trade)- I was in their bridal June issue! :) But I had to travel to Philly.

And that is pretty much it… Where you live is a huge factor, I didn’t realize until I didn’t get any work! :-P
