I just wanted to say that I am working on changing my blog name. I started this blog to work my way into the modeling industry (other than Pittsburgh’s). And, well that didn’t really work. So, I feel a bit like a poser calling myself this. It made sense when I started, but now I only model for ModCloth.com.

Do you know why I decided to (kinda) give up pursuing modeling? I am WAY too opinionated. I want to tell companies what they are doing wrong, and what they should be carrying instead of the lame items they have at that moment. If you want to pursue modeling, one of the first things they tell you is to keep your mouth shut.

Well behaved women rarely make history right? I kind of live by that quote…

I am not saying the modeling world is bad, I still really enjoy expressing myself through modeling, but not really for big companies (unless they find me magically). I just quit my Pittsburgh agency. I think the world might have more for me than modeling. Well, I guess we shall see. Come with me will you?

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you are all having fantastic weeks so far.

Lately I have been doing a lot of soul searching, and I feel the urge to design more and more. Unfortunately, I will probably not be able to afford to sell anything for a while. I know I suck, I got you all excited about my line/dress and now it isn’t going to happen (for now). Unfortunately, I am not the best seamstress and a real seamstress costed more than I could afford so I am kind of in an awkward stage. For now, I am going to keep designing and continue sewing and show you guys what I come up with. :)

But this outfit I created nothing, except I did cut my own bangs… ;) That’s something right!?

P.S. When I was young girl I shopped at maurices a lot. They always had jeans that fit me well, and they had cool affordable stuff. I am not sure if you have heard of maurices, seeing how they were in my small town in Michigan, but they have this awesome modeling contest going on! Watch these videos of previous winners, here and here. Submit yourself here. You do not have to be a experienced model to enter, so good luck lovelies! :)

Hey everyone!

You might have seen my sneak peek post yesterday, but here are some of the final images from my swimwear shoot about a month ago. I realllly miss my long hair. :{ I love how these images turned out. These swimsuits were great quality, and the designer is amazing.

Designer: Sheila Frank

Photographer: Samantha Seddon

Model: me

In the last four years, especially since Lizzie Miller’s belly shot in Glamour of 2009, and V mag’s “Curves Ahead” story in early 2010 there has been a steady growth of editorial opportunities for plus models. The consumer demand is finally tipping the scales in favor of plus, capitalism caught up to principle.

But I noticed more than one fellow plus model in the industry, after booking a few editorial shoots in magazines, wonder out loud when she was going to have some clothes on. Curious, I did an exhaustive search with Madison Plus owner Aimee Cheshire. Looking back we noticed an absolute trend. Most of the shoots were partially if not all nude, swim or lingerie. Even in W’s recent “Transformers” shoot, which featured an otherwise fully-clothed Candice Huffine, she is fully-revealing her breast, the only nudity in the story….

This post is really interesting to me, being a model, most high fashion jobs are very scandalous jobs indeed. And that is not really something I am interested in. I am interested in fashion, sure fashion and nudity can go hand in hand. But I prefer seeing fashion over nudity any day… Maybe its me? Thoughts??

Woah! I am Style Segments model of the month! :)
Happy Monday! <33

Happy Monday! <33

I was scrolling through my modeling archives the other day, I don’t remember what I have shared on my blog, but here are some images from my first modeling shoots I ever did (about 3 years ago)! Wow… How time flies! That vest outfit is kinda embarrassing…

Which one do you like the best?

So if you were following me on twitter I had a shoot in swimwear yesterday on the beach! It was a two hour drive, so I had to leave work early, and get my makeup done by my best friend, and then drive to the beach! AHHH! We were so luck to have warm-ish weather! It is October and we drove to lake Erie! There was no wind, a perfect sunset, and we made it just before the sun went down. It was a very fun day. Here are some behind the scene pics, I will have the real pictures soon! :) YAYYY

Oh, and HAPPY FRIDAYYYYYY! <3

I am on the new ModCloth newsletter! <3 Reppin’ tall and girls with a little bit extra. haha I look like a giant! :-P

Well hello everyone! Several girls have approached me via e-mail and asked if I could give more advice on “how to become a plus size model”. Well, here is how I became a model

I read so so soooo many articles on-line about how to begin. I had nothing to spend on photoshoots so that was out of the question. Which was when I found out about TFP/CD (Trade For Print/CD) *Angels sing*. This is when you meet with photographers (mostly students) that are working on their portfolio’s as you are and will not charge you. Only because they are learning also! :) It is a great thing, not to mention free- but you have to remember to BRING IT.

If you have a Art Institute around you there are plenty of photography students that need models for projects. They are a great place to go, but they do not tend to give many pictures back (their school project might require one image), so keep that in mind. You might get 2 or 3 images, discuss this with the photographer beforehand, so you know what to expect.

Where do you find these photographers? ModelMayhem.com. This site is fabulous, you can find photographers that are professional and not so professional. I can usually tell by a photographers work if I am interested in working with them or not. Because most of my work is fairly classy.

Before you meet up with one of these photog’s make sure you contact another model (from their port) to ask their opinion on the person/photographer.

Big deal? Yes I think so.

When you have your pictures taken it is important to be comfortable, or it will show throughout all of the pictures that you were not. I love seeing pictures of the photographers before I meet them. Because after all they can see pictures of me! I just think it’s a comfort thing.

I hope this helps!!! Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions! :D

I helped a friend out this past weekend, she was the stylist for this shoot and needed another model! Haha, funny thing is they look better without me! haha I am all in black. Kinda like the odd woman out! ;) Oh well, I had a great time!
