Hey!
I had such a relaxing weekend, I really don’t want it to be over. It is nice to take some time to just clear your mind, play with cameras, and abandon doing hair and makeup.
Seriously though, all I did this weekend was sleep, watch movies with Kevin, and play with some studio lighting! FOR THE FIRST TIME EVERRRR! It was soooo fun! :) Here is one picture of us :)
I am so obsessed.

I helped a friend out this past weekend, she was the stylist for this shoot and needed another model! Haha, funny thing is they look better without me! haha I am all in black. Kinda like the odd woman out! ;) Oh well, I had a great time!

Makeup-less and exhausted.
Today I decided what I wanted to do for my Advanced Digital Photography final! I am going to do a series of self portraits! It will be called “When I Grow Up” or something along those lines.
I will dress up as different people with different lifestyles such as:
An alcoholic
A celebrity
A housewife
a drug addict
and not sure what the rest should be! Any suggestions? I am trying to make some really light and happy and then some really dark and grungy.
Ideas??

My boyfriend bought me this lens for my birthday. He let me open it the weekend before my birthday because we were going on a journey to my hometown! :D
Here are some pictures from the roadtrip! I had so much fun playing with this lens! At first it bothered me because I like things to be sharp, and there is no way to get things perfectly sharp with this lens. But I reminded myself that is the point, once I accepted that I had a lot more fun with it. And then introduced it to my “artsy” side.
^^^This is my first favorite shot from the day. :) Tunnels scare me, but they are so picturesque.
My 2nd favorite shots were those of the football scrimmage, because they look like old photos from the 60’s or something!
So, go buy this lens now!! Yes, there is an adapter for Canon and Nikon! :D If you can dream it, you can shoot it with this lens. ;)

As I have mentioned before I brought my boyfriend Kevin to visit my family in Michigan for the first time ever!! We have been dating for 3 years and he hasn’t met my grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins. Finally he got to do that, but also he got to see where I grew up.
Good old Rockford, Michigan. I have so many memories here, and for Kevin, the love of my life, to come see these places meant the world to me. It was something I have fantasized about since I started dating him. He doesn’t really understand why it is so important to me, to be honest I don’t really either. But he has lived in the same house his whole life. I have moved around many times, it is so bittersweet to go back to places I remember from my childhood.
Taken with my Diana Lens that is why it is so dreamy looking. This was my old babysitters house (the house is farther up), right across the street from the first house I remember. We had to walk up this gravel road to where we played many games of simon says and ate lots of monkey bread. :) The good old days.
The Rockford dams have a lot of memories for me as well- first kisses, lazy strolls, relaxing from shopping excursions, and field trips.
It is funny to think of all the memories I have in this town and these streets, only because to you this looks like just another road. lol But it was such a successful day, lets get on to the good parts. I am tired of being all deep and emotional! lol :)
We started with ice cream from the famous place in Rockford called “Rocky’s”! I had my favorite Moose Tracks and Kevin (stupidly) had vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. This next picture explains why it was so stupid… hahaha I couldn’t stop laughing!
He reminded me of a little kid. lol
After he cleaned himself up we ventured off to the dam…(Pardon my make-up-less-ness) ;)

Yea, so, I love food. ALOT. Something I love almost as much as food? Food photography. But that is a topic I will discuss at a separate time.
My boyfriend and I have sushi night about once every two weeks. We drop everything else and make some delicious sushi together.
The rice is the hardest part of making sushi. The rest is a cinch.
Some basic ingredients we used in our sushi was:
Raw Salmon (make sure its sushi grade fish)
Seaweed wraps
Rice
avacado
cucumber
cream cheese (for some extra calories) ;)
Rolling is really tricky to keep it all in the same spot and keep it sticking together.
Kevin cuts the fish a special way, on an angle to make it fit better in the sushi.
Doesn’t it look amazing?!
We almost ate all of this… Ok, not really. We ate it for lunch the next day too! I am seriously addicted to sushi, you totally save money for doing it at home. And personally I think its more fun that way. Kevin and I have so much fun making it. :)

Also, I just thought I would let you know, I was helping this studio out to get some experience with senior shots… I know its mostly for high school seniors but I am a COLLEGE SENIOR NOW! :D But it was interesting, I wasn’t sure what to do, I was trying not to be too sexy. And I was sick of smiling! haha :)
